Where the Green Grass Grows – Fine Art Print
“I wonder everyday
As I look upon your face
Everything you gave
And nothing you would take”
— Just Breathe, Eddie Vedder
“Where the Green Grass Grows” is all about those precious moments when nothing else matters. 🍃
Moments where light dances, wistfully, through the shadows of tree branches, and the birds are singing. You have a good book and are in another world.
When I was a little girl I used to wish that the characters I drew could come to life. Often I wished I could jump into their safety, in Mary Poppins’ style.
We live in an amazing time, friends – able to share anything we think or feel. Some choose/chose to share feelings of fear that provoke hate. This is me, with my ability to do the exact opposite.
I am nobody, in the grand scheme of the world. Nobody, yet my existence will trickle and affect so many. Beyond my knowledge, with or without my intention.
While I draw I sing, loudly, ask the other two folk who live here and endure it. (One teaches at home, one was schooling at home, and I, well, I always worked at home, pandemic or no.) I dance, too. You can think of it as an eruption of emotion into the arts.
“MIX TAPES” on Spotify
So I thought that since I get these sort of, ‘visions of music’, (I don’t know how else to call it) that I ought to create some Spotify playlists to keep my musical thoughts in order.
After watching the morning news, I walked in today with my weird, bubbly-caffeinated water, sat down, and just couldn’t shake feeling heart-sick.
Then I realized that I could bring my feelings of this character & how I created her, and what my mind and heart were feeling while creating this, directly to you, via this message.
The playlist that accompanies this drawing is on my Spotify.
My handle is: Deanna Dammit. The playlist is called “Drawing Where the Green Grass Grows.” You can check it out here.
Personally, this piece was a big challenge for me. Technically, with digital painting, I had to learn a lot (ipad pro & apple pencil.)
I’m proud of her, she is real to me, and I can see her living in a book-nook, a library, an indie book shop (I think she’d love it there) – Oh, so many places!
Let me know what you think of my newest endeavor!
