Pin-striper Dean, Bio in Fine Living Lancaster Magazine

I hate to not give this the time it fully deserves, because our experience working with Fine Living Lancaster was phenomenal. After the holiday rush I’ll edit this post. For now, here is their wonderful bio piece on dad, Dean Hogg, our pin-striper!

For Sale: Wooden, Carved, Pin-Striped Skull

Would this not make the coolest conversation piece in your home?

We are proud to bring to you yet another bad-ass piece of pin striping and flame work by artist Dean.

This wooden skull is life-sized! It is said to have been carved in Ecuador. Its impressive beauty is due in part to its amazingly realistic detail. Dean’s embellishments of maroon and gold flames and pin striping enhance the skull, rather than cover its natural glory. The wood grain can still be seen through the paint as it is painted translucent.  Dean has painted every side and crevice – look close, there’s even a gold tooth. The details are subtle, so keep looking…!

This is truly cool and a really unique piece. It would be a novel addition to a home and a very awesome gift.  A definite conversation piece for sure, you’ll be sure to never have a dull moment with this guy in the room.

Old Skool Guitar Pin Striping – Custom Job

Finished guitar front for “Cat” Orifice of Project Wendigo.

What a special day for us at Grease and Grace!

Our artist Dean Hogg had a major undertaking when given the assignment to pinstripe a most beloved and cherished instrument for singer/songwriter “Cat” of Project Wendigo. Cat gave Dean ‘free reign’ to stripe both the front and the back sides of his treasured guitar after seeing photos of Dean’s prior works. Cat says having a pin striped guitar is a “life-long dream” and based on his reaction tonight we can tell he was stoked when he first ‘unwrapped’ his ‘new’ guitar. We thank Cat and his lovely family for loaning us his treasure for a brief time so Dean could work his magic on it. We are so happy to make others happy. That is what true art is all about.

We got some photographs of it before it left us. We also have some touching screenshots of a nice video Cat and his family shared with us since Dean was unable to see Cat receive his finished job in person. (Thank you guys for allowing us all to be in that moment with you.)

Interesting fact – This archtop guitar is a Palomino, made by a company called Dean. Coincidence, I think not. A Dean was meant to paint it, hehe!

Without further ado — the guitar. Check out Cat and his darling wife Lisa’s band, Project Wendigo’s music here. And like them on facebook here.

This has got to be one of the happiest faces ever. These images will serve to us as artists as inspiration! Art can mean so much more than just an image.
